Character Profile
Zombie make up
This is the main make up look that the group might go for on our main zombies and rushed versions on our other zombies as it is the most efficient and the quickest one to do as there is no latex involved, plus it has an infected vibe which is what we want in all zombies, and with our main zombies we will add latex where we deem it necessary.
|
This will most likely be carried out by one member of the group and only used once so that for the montage we can get shots of zombies eating and it will look more realistic
|
This would be a better alternative in terms of quality as it wouldn't stain, however it is more time consuming and expensive, also it is harder to pull off, however it is giving the group direction as to what kind of blood we will use and how we will make it.
|
This is the quickest and easiest way to make edible fake blood so it is most likely we will use this method as if we wanted to we could make a lot of the blood to use, plus given that it is cheap producing masses of it wouldn't be a problem.
|
This will be the kind of scar design used on the day and prosthetic design prepared before hand to use for on the day
|
How to make fake blood
You will need:
1 1-Pt (16 Fl. Oz.) Light Corn Syrup 2 1-oz. Bottles Red Food Coloring 3 Paper Towels or Newspaper 4 Container Larger than 1 pt. (I used two plastic cups) 5 Fork or Spoon (plastic works fine) What To Do:
That's it!
|
This is a possible make up design that may be used on some of the main zombies
|
This would be ideal for our chemical and plant scene as the fog could come out of the plant and shows how the DNA change will come about, the only issue is obtaining dry ice
|
This is going to be used to show the DNA contamination and will be done through the use of toothpaste and mouthwash as they are safe to put in the mouth (and to some extent edible so we wouldn't need to worry about some of it being swallowed) safe to come into contact with skin, tastes fine (for the actors benefit) and creates the foamy effect that we want to show a seizure or some kind of serious illness.
Also to add a little something special on the day if we are not satisfied with the look of the foam we might included food colouring to make it look bloody. |
Our first attempt at applying black chalk to Caleb to darken his skin.
Our first attempt at applying purple dental dye to Michael.
Our first attempt at applying blood to Caleb.
These were try outs with the fake blood and some purple dental dye to see what kind of affect it would have and it was the desired infected look we were going for in the first instance.
Also we decided that because of our skin complexions we would use whited out contact lenses as it gives the desired infected look and it looks more disturbing. This is because as most black males have dark eyes whited out eyes would go very well and would be immediately noticed by the viewers which would give a clear indication of who is and who isn't a zombie. |

Final props and Make up
This was the day of the photo shoot for our magazine and poster, Caleb applying makeup to Michael
The homemade guts and blood that Michael prepared the night prior to shooting the trailer using the above tutorials step by step.
How Michael made the fake blood is stated above, and how Michael made the fake guts is as followed below in order:

Micheal's eyes with the contact lenses in and fake blood applied (Extreme close up on the eye)
Michael putting in contacts as a demonstration

This photo was taken in order to show the comparison of Micheal's dark eye compared to his eye with the contact lens in to show how effective the colour of the contact would be against his dark eyes.
This complexion of his skin also allowed it to stand out and it doesn't look normal and looks quite unearthly/ inhuman, which is what we were hoping to achieve. This would look more effective once make up and fake blood are applied, as well as having Michael in costume.
